The Awards, announced on 9 June and hosted by Financial Standard, recognise investment strategies that showcase qualities investors are looking for in an investment manager.

Quay is a boutique investment manager focused on the preservation and creation of wealth through innovative strategies in real estate securities. It was established in May 2015 as a partnership with principals Justin Blaess and Chris Bedingfield, and Bennelong Funds Management.

The Quay Global Real Estate Fund (Unhedged) invests in a portfolio of real estate securities listed on securities exchanges around the world, and is relatively concentrated with a conviction based approach.

Mr Blaess said the award is welcome recognition of the strength of Quay’s investment process and expertise in listed real estate markets.

“We are seeing strong continued interest from investors in global listed real estate, and we believe it offers a number of attractive features in the current environment. Over time, real estate tends to outperform most equity markets,” he said.

The judging methodology for Financial Standard’s Investment Leadership Awards utilises Rainmaker information to develop a quantitative methodology that equally weights performance factors with five different risk measures.
